Here’s a toast to Designer Showcase’s 9th anniversary. Established in 2011, Designer Showcase is a monthly event that offers exclusive pieces from designers all over the grid. This month’s event ends on January 28th, so be sure to stop by.
“I had heard the old Indian legend about the red fern. Only an angel could plant the seeds of a red fern, and that they never died; where one grew, that spot was sacred.” Wilson Rawls, Where the Red Fern Grows
A lot of people who read my blog know that I often use this platform as a journal. I may be a fashion blogger, but I’m also a writer who lets it all out. I lost someone I loved so much. His name has made his way into my posts. His name was Loki, and he was the sweetest pup that ever lived.
My Loki was tough too. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2017. In late 2018, he was diagnosed with Insulinoma, which is a form of pancreatic cancer. He lost his battle on January 16, 2020. I had a hand in that. I saw him struggling for a week wanting to believe it was a tooth problem he had in the past. The course of antibiotics wasn’t helping 5 days in. He looked at me and I knew what we needed to do.
When I was in middle school, I read Where the Red Fern Grows. It has stayed with me to this day. When Loki was first diagnosed, I started to plan for his death. It’s the only thing one can do when their loved one has not one terminal diseases but two. All my preparation was for naught. Nobody can prepare to lose a piece of their heart. Nevertheless, I want the red fern to be true. It’s winter in my RL, and I can’t plant shit, so thank you Amatsu Lounge for giving me that splash of red in my darkest days.
So, here we are. Every year, we say goodbye to the past year hoping the new year will be better. Will 2020 bring you all that you need? Relax…it’s a rhetorical question. For myself, I’m haunted by last year. I feel the ghost of 2019 holding on. It’s temporary. At least that’s what I tell myself, so readers prepare for Laylah’s emotional reckonings and some droll to keep it even.

In her place one hundred candles burning As salty sweat drips from her breast Her hips move and I can feel what they’re saying, swaying They say the beast inside of me’s gonna get ya, get ya, get…
Black lipstick stains her glass of red wine I am your servant, may I light your cigarette? Those lips smooth, yeah I can feel what you’re saying, praying They say the beast inside of me’s gonna get ya, get ya, get…
I beg to serve, your wish is my law Now close those eyes and let me love you to death Shall I prove I mean what I’m saying, begging I say the beast inside me’s gonna get ya, get ya, get…

I’m officially back in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The weather has been beautiful! Las Vegas has a hot hair dryer heat. Albuquerque can be hot, but it doesn’t kill ya. Course, I haven’t been here for 6 years, so maybe that’s changed. What hasn’t changed is the wind blowing in a cold freeze in October after you’ve been fooled by a nice and warm day.
So, I’m moving back to the Land of Enchantment aka Albuquerque “Yes New Mexico is a state” on Friday. I’ve been in Las Vegas, Nevada for approximately 6 years. My husband and I always planned on moving back home. In the beginning it was hard to imagine Las Vegas was home material, yet here I am missing it already.
I thought blogging about Heart Home’s Succulent Sofa set, available at Designer Showcase, was appropriate because there are a lot of cactuses in Albuquerque. It’s a quirky set, which I love. The sofa comes with him and her single poses and some cuddles. Mind you, I’m checking out the PG version. The set is 650L for PG animations and 950L for adult. Want to check it out? Click here for a lift to Designer Showcase.
