I grew up in New Mexico and I never walked alone at night when water was near. You see…

…once upon a time, there was a woman named Maria. Maria was beautiful. Naturally, her beauty caught the eye of a rich ranchero. After they were married, Maria bore two beloved children. The children were her life. Her handsome husband was a busy man, so Maria spent all of her time tending to the household and caring for her children, until one tragic day. Walking along the river with her children, her husband drives by in a buggy with another woman. He tells his children he loves them very much, but he ignores Maria. The other woman sitting comfortably beside Maria’s husband looks away. It seems Maria’s husband has moved on. Broken with jealousy and rage, Maria throws her two young children into the river. Maria immediately regrets her actions. Caught by the current, her sweet children drown. She can’t stop crying as she searches for their small bodies. One day of misfortune turns into 2, 3, 10, 20, 365, and eternity as she weeps for her children alongside the water. Maria is a shadow of herself without food, water, or love and she eventually expires on the riverbank. Although she is dead, she continues to cry for her lost children to this day and will snatch any child who dares to walk alone along the bank.

For fans of The Haunting of Bly Manor, you’ll get my ode to Jamie. She may be sitting in an executive chair in a garden, but Nantra’s Basic Instinct pose set was just too perfect! As Halloween approaches, I make it a personal mission to watch as many horror movies or shows as possible. Something about the fictional Jamie and Dani’s story left me…haunted…

…in a good way. I don’t want to give any more details in case you haven’t seen it. I suppose my point is storytelling has more impact than say a Tweet. Stories have the ability to follow us and to perhaps provide a shoulder for someone who needs to hear it.
